Waiting & Watching

HOPE …

First Sunday of Advent

Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Happy Advent!
Today we start the great adventure of the coming of the Lord! As we prepare our homes for this happy season of Christmas may we take time to also prepare our hearts as well. Keeping Christ in Christmas is one way but far more importantly we need to welcome and keep Christ in our daily lives. Today we look forward to the return of Christ in Glory. Will He come and find us lacking? Sleeping in place and not about the master’s business.

In the lesson for this day Jesus asks yes, no commands us to be awake. To be about our Master’s business, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless, loving the sinner, forgiving our enemies, building the Kingdom of God here on earth. Are we truly the HOPE of the world?

Lord, help me to see you more clearly, to love you more dearly, to share you more freely.
